What We Carry

Hi! My name is Hannah Yoon and I'm a Korean Canadian photographer living in Philadelphia.

Inspired by a lot of books and movies I've watched on the relationship between immigrant parents and their children. I' also been thinking a lot about my Korean immigrant parents and who they are, the stories they have and how it has shaped who I am today.

What We Carry is a collaborative multimedia project exploring the relationships between Asian adults and their immigrant parents by using portraiture, videos, and written memos. The focus will be on anyone who identifies as Asian Americans, especially those that are mixed-race or biracial. I want to explore how second gen and 1.5 gen folks like us that grew up in the US carry pieces of our immigrant parents. I will photograph children with their parents in their home.
